Simone has been an ensemble member of Signal and served as Guest Liaison since 2008. Her Signal credits include the Player Queen in Hamlet, May in Fool for Love (named one of NewCity Chicago’s Top 5 Female Performances of 2007), Elizabeth in Six Degrees of Separation, Sandy in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Miss Amelia Evans in The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, Anita Pallenberg in Aftermath, Maria Feletti in Accidental Death of an Anarchist, and Samantha Martin in Aces. Other Chicago credits include Chris in Dancing at Lughnasa with Seanachai, Brooke/Vicki in Noises Off! (named the #3 show in Daily Herald’s Top 10 of 2007) and Loretta in The Melville Boys with Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream with First Folio Shakespeare Festival, and Big Betty Balou in Escanaba in Love and Gilda in Design for Living with Circle Theatre, the latter for which she was nominated for a Jeff Citation award. A founding member of Big Picture Group, Simone appeared with them as Mrs. Sorby in .duck, Masha in Sisters 3.0, and Shen Teh in The Good Person of Setzuan. She also starred in the short film, My Lover’s Moods, which screened at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and garnered her a Best Actress nomination from the Midwest Independent Film Festival. Simone studied theatre at Goldsmiths College at the University of London and earned her BFA in Theatre Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University.
