Melanie is tremendously proud to be a member of Signal Ensemble Theatre. Her first appearance with Signal was as Beatrice in their production of Much Ado About Nothing. She also appeared in Signal's world-premiere, Jeff-nominated production of Landslide, and played Kate Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer, and she was nominated for a Jeff Citation for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Weir. She was the Chicago Fellow at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada and appeared in Love's Labour's Lost, Romeo and Juliet and Caesar and Cleopatra, with Christopher Plummer. Melanie has worked with Northlight Theatre, appearing in their production of A Life, with John Mahoney as well as their Interplay series. Melanie is also an artistic associate with First Folio Theatre where she appeared most recently as Elvira in Blithe Spirit. She has also appeared as Gilda in Design for Living, and Amanda in Private Lives, in addition to appearing in their productions of Twelfth Night, Angel Street, Jeeves in Bloom and The Importance of Being Earnest. Other credits include The Long Christmas Ride Home (Next Theatre), King John and Hamlet (Chicago Shakespeare), A Christmas Carol and To Kill a Mockingbird (Metropolis), The Misanthrope (BackStage), and productions with Seanachai, Breadline, Shaw Chicago, and Lifeline theatre companies. Melanie trained at the Birmingham Conservatory of Stratford, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University.
